Our private guide Jata was very kind and had a very good knowledge of the mountain and the path. We made several little breaks but reached the top before the mass of other tourists. At top he made a little breakfast for us, showed as the perfect spot to watch the sunset, made a lot of pictures of us and had some pretty stunning informations about the surrounding volcanoes. Short time before we were descending the mountain he showed us the monkeys and we could feed them.
We really enjoyed our time and would thank Jata and all the supporting people who arranged that stunning experience. More

Wiyan was very knowledgeable of the path and helped my wife and I in the more difficult parts of the path. He also was the best photographer around taking breathtaking photos for us on top of Mt. Batur. We left the summit around 4:15 AM and arrived at the peak 15 mins before sunrise with the help of Wiyan, wouldn’t have been able to do it without him. My wife and I had never hiked before and it was quite the difficult trek but Wiyan was understanding in giving us breaks and taking us through the best path. I would highly recommend Bagus and Wiyan for your Mt. Batur trek - they also give you tea and breakfast before you begin and a meal to have on top of the mountain. Our guide (Jata Yuna Manjku) was great. We really enjoyed his company and had great conversation walking up the mountain. At the top, he left us to enjoy the beginning of the sunrise while he made us breakfast (he’s also a great photographer). After the sunrise, we explored the top of the volcano where he shared with us the geographical history of the volcano (you can see and feel the steam rising from the vents). As for the sunrise- it was the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen.

FYI-
This hike is approximately 5 hours long (2 to hike up- 1 to enjoy the view from the top- 2 to hike down)

ALSO- wear layers. Hiking up is surprisingly cold. (I wore shorts, sweats, a t-shirt, and a light jacket)

Additionally- pack a blanket and a water bottle. There are benches at the top you sit at while the sun rises and until the sun comes out, it can be quite cold! More

the guides were all very helpful and patient. when some of... read more us needed to go at a slower pace, they would stop for us and wait till we were ready to go. on terrains where the path was more uneven, they would slowly help us get through by holding on to us until we could go on our own. particularly, [the female guide] was very kind in holding my hand throughout the final portion of the hike as I was scared to go on my own. I was very thankful for all the guides who were there on our hike, especially [the female guide].

The whole experience is great- breakfast and drinks brought out to you while you sit and watch the sunrise. The hike itself is really beautiful as well as you walk back down through with views then through the forest.
