It was definitely too strenuous for a weakened 11 year old. When I thought we would need to turn back, our friendly guide Jata offered our daughter a ride on his back and carried her halfway up the mountain! He was worried she would be too cold at the top so he arranged for a place for her to rest that had a beautiful view of the sunrise. I stayed with her and my wife and older daughter went to the top. Jata carried her most of the way down as well. He further took some great pictures for us and generally made what could have been a dud of an outing into an amazing day. Nengah (Boss) made all the arrangements to pick us up, send the guide to our guesthouse, a porter to bring our tent and cook dinner for us at the top of the mountain. We are very impressed with his team.
Camping overnight at the top on Mt. Batur was fun, except it was cloudy and chilly when we were there. Still we had great sunset and sunrise in the morning.
Dinner was the best local food we had in the area. Fried lake fish, eggs, veggie soup and rice.
I strongly recommend the camping if you want a different experience. We started the hike at 3.30pm and took the more challenging route, we enjoyed the wonderful view on the way up and avoided the motorbike on the dirt road (the easier route). More

Our driver picked us up from our hotel all the way down in Kuta right on time, and drove us safely to every destination point. The early morning snack (banana pancake) before the hike was very delicious too!

We were so lucky to have an amazing guide, Mangku. He was so attentive, kind, and patient with all of us, always asking if we were okay and needed a break. He even worked wonders on my ankle when I sprained it while going down the trail! He assisted me when going down very steep and slippery paths and made sure that I wasn’t in any pain. Thank you so much for that!

The view from the top of the mountain was unbelievably amazing. Once we reached the top, we had an ample amount of time to rest, stay warm, and take pictures. Mangku took us to the highest peak where it wasn’t so crowded, and he knew where the hot spots are to have a really good view of the sunrise and scenery. He also had amazing photography skills! While waiting for the sunrise, we were provided with breakfast and tea. Thank you Mangku for being so patient and kind to us, and making sure that we made it to the top and bottom safely!

After Mount Batur, we hiked Sekumpul Waterfall with a guide. The view at the waterfall was amazing as well. Our tour guide was also excellent and made sure we climbed down and back up from the waterfall safely. Later during the trip, the tour company arranged for us an amazing lunch with a local restaurant. The mie goreng we had was very delicious!

I highly recommend this tour and company if you are in Bali and planning a trip to see the sunrise and waterfall. The view was incredible and nothing I’ve ever seen before. It was so worth waking up at 1am for this! Thank you very much for the amazing experience!
