  Kliwan is the best guide, thank you! - Our tour guide Kliwan was extremely nice, friendly, and helpful. Provided head lamps and hiking poles and helped us carry small items and water. Patient to stop whenever we needed... read more to catch our breath. Very private hike on the way up - we were one of two groups of two total we saw hiking. Checkpoints along the way to catch a break and buy water/snacks. Kliwan was able to communicate well with the two of us in both Indonesian and English. Dress in layers, wear hat and waterproof jacket, shoes can get muddy. Breakfast at the top is very nice, noodles and egg, coffee and hot chocolate. Kliwan was great, funny and thoughtful and we were so lucky to have him! We had fog at the top, still extremely lovely, don’t worry about light rain or fog, experience is still amazing!

Haha but our tour guide, Wayan Suar made sure I made it to the top (and back down) safely. He carried my bag for me and stopped/slowed down when I needed to. He made us breakfast and brought us to the highest point with amazing 360 view where it wasn’t too crowded. We didn’t pack warm enough clothes so he gave us blankets to keep warm. He also took some great pictures for us! Highly recommend!

It was definitely too strenuous for a weakened 11 year old. When I thought we would need to turn back, our friendly guide Jata offered our daughter a ride on his back and carried her halfway up the mountain! He was worried she would be too cold at the top so he arranged for a place for her to rest that had a beautiful view of the sunrise. I stayed with her and my wife and older daughter went to the top. Jata carried her most of the way down as well. He further took some great pictures for us and generally made what could have been a dud of an outing into an amazing day. The hot springs is the perfect after trek activity -- definitely recommended! More
