The hike was not a walk in the park, but Tana was a... read more great guide and very experienced. He was very accommodating and took us around the crater when we requested it. If possible, I recommend going the long way down instead of heading straight back down as you get great views of the surrounding countryside and various craters. Additionally, he lets you go at your own pace. Tana is extremely welcoming. It was great getting meet him and learning about his life in Bali.

Would definitely recommend this hike to anyone wanting to get off the streets and experience the natural beauty of Bali. You should be in relatively good shape in order to enjoy this hike. Those with lower fitness can make it but may find themselves struggling a bit. Be sure to wear good closed toed shoes with good traction and bring a light jacket with a hood/hat for the summit as it can be surprisingly chilly. The breakfast at the top is a welcome addition and the hot springs afterwards is definitely recommend to unwind.

Our driver was... read more at our lodging (which was actually very far from Batur) way before the official pick up time, waiting, which if you consider was at around 1am, was impressive!

Our guide was excellent - a very nice unassuming guy who has been climbing the peak for many years. He was always checking in with us, and he customised our experience a little since we said we wanted to go by a less crowded and more challenging route. When we reached the top, he eagerly sussed out the best spot for us, prepping everything just to make sure we were comfy. Later on, he offered to take lots of photos and even videos of us (even though we didnt ask him to).. really appreciate his proactiveness and great service, which gave us a few good photos and memories to look back on.

I'd highly recommend bagus bali. I had an overall wonderful experience with them and especially our guide though sadly I cannot recall his name.
