Our guide (Jata Yuna Manjku) was great. We really enjoyed his company and had great conversation walking up the mountain. At the top, he left us to enjoy the beginning of the sunrise while he made us breakfast (he’s also a great photographer). After the sunrise, we explored the top of the volcano where he shared with us the geographical history of the volcano (you can see and feel the steam rising from the vents). As for the sunrise- it was the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen.

FYI-
This hike is approximately 5 hours long (2 to hike up- 1 to enjoy the view from the top- 2 to hike down)

ALSO- wear layers. Hiking up is surprisingly cold. (I wore shorts, sweats, a t-shirt, and a light jacket)

Additionally- pack a blanket and a water bottle. There are benches at the top you sit at while the sun rises and until the sun comes out, it can be quite cold! More
