We were then brought to beginning of the trek where we met our guide Wayan Suar. The climb itself was very enjoyable with Wayan as our guide he allowed for breaks when needed and even took us an alternate (yet slightly harder) route to the top which was less crowded than the main one. At the top Wayan treated us to a much appreciated breakfast of hot tea, banana sandwiches, some fruit, and an egg that had been boiled over one of the steam vents of the volcano. Wayan was very accommodating when it came to taking photos at the summit for every phase of the sunrise and even posed with us for a couple. After the hike back down we jumped back in the car with Adi and headed off to the remote north of Bali (2hour drive) to visit the beautiful but lesser known waterfalls of Sekumpul. I would highly recommend this as a stop as it is far less crowded and more impressive than the Tegenungan waterfall we had seen the day before. Our guide for the waterfall Sugi was great. He had very good English, a great sense of humor and was very chatty and informative throughout the tour. On the way... On the way back to our hotel Adi obliged us by stopping at the famous Ulun Danu Beratan however it was far too crowded and hard to properly enjoy. Beautiful temple though. Arrived back in Ubud at 5pm and called it a night after a long and very enjoyable day. More

Our guide Carik gave us a great time and taught us many things about the volcano. He was very mindful of our tempo, which was highly appreciated. Of all the guides I've been with he has the best English, owing to his time in the States. The hot springs at the end are a must for everybody, a great reward for your physical exertion.

We met with Wayan Suar our guide early in the morning, the hike was not very easy for me and my girlfriend, especially with me being already sick as it is, Wayan helped me every step of the way as we took many breaks along the way, and I was having problems breathing and gained a level of tiresome I never have encountered, but Wayan was there every step of the way to help. When we reached the peak around 6 AM, it was one of the most scenic views I had ever seen, surreal. He helped us get amazing pictures when we were up on the peak, jut seeing those sea of clouds were breathtaking while watching the sunrise with my girlfriend. Wayan had a hot tea and breakfast up for us up at the top, and helped get monkeys away from it with a stick. We went the longer but easier way down and Wayan was understanding of every step of the way. He had made me a walking stick to help not slide down and hurt yourself, like we saw other people do, he was one of the best guides I've ever had in my life for a trek like this. Then... Then we headed to Sekumpul Waterfall, which took about 3 hours to get because the road was closed. We saw an amazing waterfall which was 230 steps down to get to and up, he showed us three waterfalls and allowed us to swim for a good amount of time while getting good photos. We came back up and had a good lunch, our driver was very nice and understanding of the traffic we didn't get back till 6 PM, but overall the trip was enjoyable, and unforgettable, me and my girlfriend will never forget this journey that day. My 9 y.o. girl, my brother and I wanted to avoid the crowd, so we tried something different. We did the Sunset/Sunrise Camping with Bagus Bali Sunrise Trekking. ... read more The team had been excellent in all aspects. Communications via WhatsApp were prompt, clear and good English. Nengah (Boss) made all the arrangements to pick us up, send the guide to our guesthouse, a porter to bring our tent and cook dinner for us at the top of the mountain. We are very impressed with his team.
Camping overnight at the top on Mt. Batur was fun, except it was cloudy and chilly when we were there. Still we had great sunset and sunrise in the morning.
Dinner was the best local food we had in the area. Fried lake fish, eggs, veggie soup and rice.
I strongly recommend the camping if you want a different experience. We started the hike at 3.30pm and took the more challenging route, we enjoyed the wonderful view on the way up and avoided the motorbike on the dirt road (the easier route). More
