If possible, I recommend going the long way down instead of heading straight back down as you get great views of the surrounding countryside and various craters. Additionally, he lets you go at your own pace. Tana is extremely welcoming. It was great getting meet him and learning about his life in Bali.

Would definitely recommend this hike to anyone wanting to get off the streets and experience the natural beauty of Bali. You should be in relatively good shape in order to enjoy this hike. Those with lower fitness can make it but may find themselves struggling a bit. Be sure to wear good closed toed shoes with good traction and bring a light jacket with a hood/hat for the summit as it can be surprisingly chilly. The breakfast at the top is a welcome addition and the hot springs afterwards is definitely recommend to unwind.

Everything was planed perfectly and functioned exactly the way we were expecting it... read more (talking of the transport, little breakfast, guide, tour). Our private guide Jata was very kind and had a very good knowledge of the mountain and the path. We made several little breaks but reached the top before the mass of other tourists. At top he made a little breakfast for us, showed as the perfect spot to watch the sunset, made a lot of pictures of us and had some pretty stunning informations about the surrounding volcanoes. Short time before we were descending the mountain he showed us the monkeys and we could feed them.
We really enjoyed our time and would thank Jata and all the supporting people who arranged that stunning experience. More

The hike was pretty tough but sooo worth the view and experience of being up there. If you’re scared of heights then the summit might be a bit challenging as you are walking next to a crater! He is the most charming, polite and knowledgeable guide and made our experience even more special as we were able to learn even more about Balinese culture.
